Deborah A. Wilcox is Co-Chair of Baker & Hostetler's Intellectual Property Litigation Team. Ms. Wilcox manages complex copyright, trademark and e-commerce litigation, from contractual software disputes to the ex parte seizures of infringing character and sports merchandise. Ms. Wilcox is also experienced in copyright, trademark and Internet domain name selection, registration and licensing, both in the U.S. and internationally. Ms. Wilcox has traveled extensively in Southeast Asia and has appeared in a Korean television broadcast concerning international protection of intellectual property rights of United States companies.
Ms. Wilcox has given many interviews and speeches on domestic and international e-commerce issues, including online brand reputation (Advertisers face harsh lessons at the hands of powerful consumers) and search engine marketing (Moot Court: Trademark Protection on Trial). She recently published an article on trademarks and search engines ("That's My Trademark®") and was quoted in the book Search Engine Advertising, Buying Your Way To The Top To Increase Sales (http://www.searchenginesales.com/). She teaches annual Continuing Legal Education courses on registration and enforcement of intellectual property rights. In addition, she writes a monthly column on character licensing for The Licensing Journal.
Ms. Wilcox counsels clients on intellectual property and advertising matters in the merchandising and entertainment areas such as cartoons, sports, music, telecommunications, television, restaurants, household goods, gifts and toys. She manages intellectual property rights and disputes for authors and artists, universities and colleges and clients in diverse industrial and e-commerce areas.
Ms. Wilcox is a member of the American (Litigation and Intellectual Property sections), Ohio and Cleveland Bar Associations, the International Trademark Association, and the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition.
