Consumer WebWatch
Leslie M. Marable is the research project manager for Consumer WebWatch (www.consumerwebwatch.org), a grant-funded Web credibility project of Consumers Union, publisher of Consumer Reports. In addition, Ms. Marable has authored or co-authored three major research reports for Consumer WebWatch, the most recent being “False Oracles: Consumer Reaction to Learning the Truth About How Search Engines Work. Results of an Ethnographic Study.”
Prior to joining Consumer WebWatch, Ms. Marable was the research editor at media-business site Inside.com where she coordinated the company’s online and offline research efforts and wrote stories about trends in traditional media, entertainment, broadband and the convergence with digital media.
Her research and journalism career spans magazines, broadcast and online media, including six years as staff reporter at the AOL Time Warner consumer magazines Entertainment Weekly and Money. While at Money, Ms. Marable worked as an investigative reporter and wrote about consumer protection issues, technology and personal finance.
Ms. Marable earned her master’s degree in journalism from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, and a bachelor’s degree in psychology-sociology from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn.
