As Director and Senior Analyst, Robert Leathern leads Nielsen//NetRatings¹
Commerce Analytics group, working with retail, travel and financial services
clients on cutting-edge cross-channel commerce measurement and analysis.
Previously, Leathern was a senior analyst with Jupiter Research, where he
headed their online payments and retail practices. His research at Jupiter
included privacy and security, online consumer financial transactions and
behavior, multi-channel integration for retailers and travel firms, and
general consumer behavior. Prior to his time at Jupiter, Leathern was an
investment banker at Furman Selz, later a part of the ING Group.
Leathern has lent his insight at numerous industry tradeshows and events,
and is frequently quoted in top-tier publications including The New York
Times, the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News, BusinessWeek, CNBC and CNN.
As a leading authority in online consumer privacy, Leathern has presented
his research at the Federal Trade Commission¹s Consumer Information Security
Workshops.
Leathern holds a B.A. in computer science and economics from Dartmouth
College and is a candidate for the CFA designation.
